POTCs are compact tower cranes designed for simple and rapid assembly and disassembly and often operated by remote control. These cranes are great for building sites with limited space making them a popular option for short-term operations.
In comparison to conventional tower cranes, POTCs require minimum ground preparation, which is one of their advantages. They can be installed without a foundation or specific anchoring on relatively flat and sturdy ground. This makes them an economical solution for sites where excavation or groundwork is impractical or impossible.
Depending on the model and site specifications, POTCs can be powered by either single-phase or three-phase electricity. Single-phase cranes are often smaller and lighter than their three-phase counterparts, and can be utilised in regions where three-phase electricity is unavailable. Cranes with three phases are larger, more potent, and capable of handling higher loads and longer boom lengths.

ABOUT SPARROW CRANE HIRE
Sparrow Crane hire is a family run business which started out with a small fleet of cranes in the late 1940’s providing crane hire and other services.
Over time it has progressively grown, adding more cranes to the fleet and more services. One of the services we added was a training division in the 70’s providing crane related training courses to our customers, one of the first companies of that time to provide training in the crane and lifting industry.
